MAYAN DESIGN WORKSHOP

I will be leading a workshop in Mexico in March.

Nice time for an escape to Mexico, right!

The program is called the Mayan Design Workshop and it is is run by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. It takes place in Campeche, Mexico. The program is designed to develop products for the local artisans to make and sell. The workshop takes place in the jungles in and around the Mayan ruins. I am looking forward to a fun, challenging program.

I have entitled my workshop “Geometry of the Jungle” and will encourage participants to look to the landscape and cultural artifacts for cues as they design products. I plan to keep the program grounded in hopes of developing some successful products. It will be a challenge as the local weavers and woodworkers have limited resources and sell mostly to tourists.
