Also in Rosana Orlandi’s basement – where the younger designers show – I loved these glass and foam pieces by Roos Gomperts. I am a sucker for an interesting material story.
Upstairs in the store we admired this embroidered Eames chair.
Then we headed out to the Lambrate Area – a long trek from town. I don’t have much in the way of designer info on these objects, but this was one of the best examples I have ever seen of re-purposed glass bottles.
And I loved these foam experimentations at the University of Eindhoven exhibition.
My favorite project of the day was in a room annexed to the Eindhoven exhibition. Working with a museum, the designer (or studio) named Glithero drew a correlation between the musical punch cards used to drive traditional organs and the punch cards used to drive weaving machines.
The project delved deep – the music was not just applied decoration, but became the structure of the fabric. The result was digitized and used to create a very subtle fabric pattern that contained the information from the musical punch cards.
I ended my evening at Carlo e Camilla with a very fun group of journalists and designers.
