Tool Vases were Harry’s first foray into slip-casting. Tools and flowers might seem an odd combination, but Harry finds as much beauty in the tools that help him create as he does in the miraculous structure of flowers.
These tool objects presented a very difficult mold-making challenge, and thus a great learning experience for Harry. The resulting object is a compelling study of ceramic production. None of the tool objects are perfect, they often have seams and inconsitencies but we love them exactly for that reason. its interesting how the mind completes the picture and overlooks inconsitencies to read a form.
Tool Sculptures come unique glaze combinations and will never be produced in editions of more than 10. Contact us for images of available pieces.
As with most of Harry’s ceramics, these pieces work great in multiples. The objects are all the same, but variation in finish brings focus to different aspects of the design.
