This pear shaped Altar Fruit Incense Burner is glazed with a glossy transparent pink glaze. It can go anywhere, and will clean up easily. It will need to be used with another plate, or tray, to catch the ashes.
There is a tradition in many cultures of placing fruit at altars as an offering. There is even a tradition of ceramic altar fruit — representational offerings decorated in beautiful glazes that do not decompose.
Our Altar Fruit Incense holder is part of this lineage — combining the altar fruit offering with incense holder function. The fruit only holds the incense, it does not catch the ashes, so it should be used on a cleanable surface, or a plate — but nothing is better than fruit on a plate.
