This handle originates from the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NewYork City. We discovered a trove of Waldorf funishings andhardware salvaged from the hotel and thought they would makenice additions to the line. The provenance becomes a very funelement of the design. The original hardware was manufacturedby Russel & Erwin. It has a beautiful ornate pattern on the front,and its T-shape feels great in the hand and functions well as amug handle. Hardware Mugs, our line of stacking stoneware mugs are hybrids. Various hardware, from a ubiquitous glass knob to ornate Victorian handles, are cast in ceramic and mounted on a proprietary, flat-sided mug. The resulting collection is both functional and fresh. Each mug has a distinct personality but as a group they make an impressive display.
Some of the hardware has provenance, such as a handle and knob from the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, or a door handle from a 1935 Ford, others are collected for their unique forms or functional properties. The handle collection is ever growing but as of writing consists of 19 models.
