An article in the New York Times inspired this piece. The article was a profile on the artist Alex Katz. On the wall in his studio hung a humble cabinet made of pegboard. It was a utilitarian piece of furniture, thrown together and worn, with crooked doors. However, it made Harry want to use pegboard, and the Pegboard Sideboard came into being. For Harry, pegboard was ripe for exploration — its rigid grid of holes is very modern, and its white finish is crisp. Furthermore, everyone has a relationship to this common material. Was it on the wall of your father basement shop? Did you shop off of it at the dollar store? Did it solve a problem for you? Nothing is more useful. Right now the Sideboard stands alone as a chic case good for the home and office, but we are planning a range of customs hooks and accessories to max out its utility, and we are hoping that many pegboard projects follow, including a wall hung cabinet.
