In celebration of Lea Allen Gebauer’s 90th birthday — her sons, Hale Allen, a painter and visual artist from Philadelphia, PA, and Harry Allen, a local industrial designer — present new works. This show marks the first time the Allen brothers have shown together. Hale, best known for his industrial landscapes, is now focusing on his Wire Series whereby overhead wires are transformed into paintings that examine the interstices of light and dark and the connections within. Most recently Harry has been hand making ceramics in his Pound Ridge studio. His work in this exhibition focuses on a glaze-forward project called Fuse. Slip-cast ceramic cylinders are cut apart and reassembled using glaze to fuse them together. The glaze application becomes both the method of attachment and the decorative element.
