Immediately upon restructuring its design department in 2006, Johnson & Johnson turned to Harry Allen Design to re-design the First Aid Kit, one of its most important products.

After years of cost engineering, the First Aid Kit had been reduced to a disposable clear plastic case – the red crosses, tin boxes, and memorable blue and white plastic were the designs of yesteryear. The design brief was simple, keep production costs at a minimum and give the First Aid Kit a modern iconic form.

The final design is consumer friendly. The kit stands on one end for easy storage; the built in handle provides a grab-and-go efficiency; the color scheme is an eye-catching red and white, and the red cross is the center of attention.
