Flip was originally designed in 2003 for an in-house group design show during Design Week at Harry Allen Design. A few were made and sold, but its simplicity and local production capability were so appealing that we decided to re-launch it as part of HADCSTM in 2025.
There are a multitude of acrylic manufacturers left in New York City. They cut and glue acrylic sheet for a wide variety of industry. With this in mind, and all the beautiful colors of acrylic sheet, that Flip was born. It’s a very simple idea both in aesthetic and function. The flip mechanism, rendered in translucent material, gives a beautiful mix of two colors. The same mechanism directs light up and down.
